Inventory of mine workings

The database contains information on individual underground mine workings. According to Section 8, §10 of the Law No. 61/1988 Coll. on mining operations, explosives and State Mining Administration, as amended, this includes all mine workings with an end open to the earth’s surface and development workings that open a reserved deposit or its integrated part.

Data Quality

The proposal for the creation of the mine workings registration originated at a joint meeting of the Ministry of the Environment, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, and the Czech Mining Authority in 1998. The Czech Geological Survey was entrusted with the processing and maintenance of the mine workings database. The content of the database is based on the record sheet of the „main mine working“, which is defined in the Decree of the Czech Mining Office No. 52/1997 Coll. In addition, it contains other data that are necessary for dealing with cases of reported mining impacts according to § 35 of the Mining Act and Decree of the Ministry of Environment No. 363/1992 Coll., on the detection of mine impacts and maintaining their inventory.
