Web pages of an initiative of the Geologists without borders want to make the public aware of the geological environment where we all live. The objective of the initiative is to spread knowledge and information in easily understandable, and where possible even in a cheerful, form of pictorial leaflets (cs, en, fr, es, de, ru, sk, hu) focused on:
- proper behaviour of people towards water and soil, not only during periods of droughts and floods;
- how to take care of wells as a source of drinking water;
- how to determine areas of landslides, rock collapse and earthquakes, together with possible methods to moderate their effects and consequences;
- how to eliminate the effects of asbestos and radon on human health cultural features of the countryside, of geological and anthropogenic origin, and their influence on the health and property of local inhabitants;
- use of geological maps when buying a plot of land, or for safe construction of houses;
- existence of geothermal resources in the vicinity of human dwellings;
- making topics dealing with the relationship of man to inorganic nature more accessible to the public.
